Pottery has been a creative outlet for me and I enjoy sharing it with the community. Here are some of the recent outreach opportunities I have participated in:
SEE Charlotte/Empty Bowls. SEE Charlotte is an after school program for visually impaired children. Each year, I work with the children to create bowls to donate to Second Harvest’s Empty Bowls fundraiser. It gives the children a chance to give back to the community.

Discovery Place Wildacres Retreat. Each year, Discovery Place hosts a weekend retreat in the NC mountains as a fundraiser for the museum. Participants can attend hikes led by naturalists and participate in classes led by experts in the field. For the past 2 years, I have taught pottery workshops during the retreat where participants can make nature-themed projects like bird houses and leaf bowls.
Clay Club at Shamrock Gardens. Amy Sanders and I work with 3rd, 4th and 5th graders teaching them different clay and glazing techniques. For many of the children, it is their first time working with clay.
